I have a little Canon 4 megapixel brick of a camera that I got in 2003. I've always felt that it was a great camera, but oh how time ages our beloved toys!

I find for the best shots while doing skywatching is to have the tripod handy. Although I've been known to spend a good two minutes tuning the exposure time and aperture in desperation for a good shot! ;)

Great shots!

Hey Kristal,

Thanks, and nice to see you again. BTW, thanks for the follow to.

Todd,

Thank you. I'm not sure about the lots as I'm not yet licensed to trade on the moon. :)

Alex,

Somehow I managed these without a tripod. The very last one was shot at 1/15 and 3200 ISO. It's pretty noisy at 100%. Today's image stabilizers are pretty amazing.

I was very clear in Winnipeg and I snapped a few shots sans-tripod with my freezing camera. They probably came out blurry (have yet to check), but it was quite the sight here as well.

Times like this remind me how important it is to move your tripod when you move and not leave it as one of the last items to bring over!!

Hehe.

Jay,

Sounds like you're having worse luck than me, and sick to boot? Hope you're feeling better real soon.

Jason,

Thank you. I'm using a Canon 40D and a 70-200 mm lens. I'm just learning how to use the thing.

Nice stuff Norm. It was *completely* overcast here tonight.

Figures. It's completely cloudy about 8 times a year here....

Matt,

That's pretty much exactly what I would expect to happen within moments of proudly displaying my photos. :)

The server seems to be behaving now. It was probably the 37,000 visitors I had tonight. :)

Bob and Hillary,

Thanks. I used a 200 mm lens which allows a guy to get fairly close.

Hillary,

These are nothing compared to Bob's shots. Check them out at http://www.flickr.com/photos/gotbob/2280188505/in/set-72157603953812539/
