The Uptown Market, Saskatoon’s only downtown grocery store has closed its doors after less than three months of operation.

Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer announced an expansion of the Lighthouse that will add 65 affordable housing units by December of 2011, essentially doubling the capacity of the supported living facility. The $11.5 million dollar addition will be funded with an investment from the federal and provincial Affordable Housing Trust.

The Saskatoon Heath Region has selected the Royal University Hospital (RUH) to house the new Children’s Hospital of Saskatchewan following the recommendation of a site validation committee appointed to review four location options.

A Class-A office vacancy rate of less than 1 percent is driving developers to continue expanding the inventory in downtown Saskatoon.
