If you’re a real estate geek with an iPhone or an Android device you’re going to flip over this terrific little application.
It uses your device’s GPS to position you on a map and it plots all Saskatoon MLS listings within one kilometer of your current location.
Have you ever driven by a real estate for sale sign and thought to yourself, “Hey, I wonder what the deal is on that place?” Well, wonder no more my friend, wonder no more. Just pull out your phone, open the bookmark and browse the listing details including all of the MLS photos and dozens of data fields.
It will continue to search nearby listings as you “pan” the map and it can “follow” you as you walk or drive and automatically update the search results.
If you see something you’d like to visit, you can call us or send us a text message directly from the listing.
It’s a web-based application so it requires no installation and it takes up virtually no room on your phone’s hard disk.
Simply open this link with your iPhone or your Android, bookmark it, and you’re experiencing the magic, now and forever.
But please, don’t keep this gem to yourself. Email it to all of your iPhone and Android friends (you can use that little blue email icon at the bottom of this post to forward it on). They’ll love you for it.
I’m always happy to answer your Saskatoon real estate questions. All of my contact info is here. Please feel free to call or email.

Even better if it can do the same for open houses only!
Anon,
Thanks for the feedback. Help me out here please. Why would it be “even better” if you could do it with open houses only? Thanks again.
just throwing out a guess here, but would think that when driving around looking at places on the weekend for example, might be nice to know the places you could just stop in to look at right then, close to where you are driving. if it includes just everything that’s for sale, well there is a lot of stuff for sale, and you could look up all the stuff for sale anytime. just my guess. maybe anon just creeps at open houses? didn’t there used to be some print version of this open house list? kind of handy to have on the blackberry too!
This program is pretty sweet just the way it is. Works great! I like how it follows you as you move around. If you did anything with open houses I would suggest a different icon to identify them rather then eliminating homes that are not open.
Samson,
There is a publication that comes out on Friday called the Realtor Showcase that has a printed list of open houses. There is an online version here.
Ya, I do realize that there are lots of ways one could look up everything for sale, but for most people it would not be possible to do that in the car, or standing on front of a house that they’re curious about.
Another thought here. If it were “just” open houses, the app would only be useful for 10-12 hours a week, and it wouldn’t ever be helpful if you were just walking by a house that you were curious about, unless it were open, in which case you could just walk in and check it out. I’m thinking it would be tough to convince a software programmer that it would be prudent to make a program less useful.
All that said, Justin’s idea of somehow highlighting open houses is a cool improvement to an already pretty cool program. I will definitely bring that forward as I think an “open house” field is available on the Saskatoon MLS listings.
I’m told that there has been quite a number of requests for a Blackberry version and that one might follow shortly. That would be my personal preference as well. I’ve been using Blackberry since the early days and just bought a Bold about six months ago.
Bill Skrypnyk here from MyRealPage. Firstly, thanks a lot for a warm reception of this application!
The open houses suggestion is indeed very valid and we had them in the plans but they didn’t make it into the “version 1″ feature list. This feature will be added before the application leaves beta.
We are also looking into a Blackberry version but it’s unclear right now how much effort will need to be invested in that. The cool thing about the iPhone and Android version is that they were done simply leveraging the new HTML5 standard features. It is my understanding that the Blackberry browser will require some additional “love”
Further suggestions are welcome! What else would you like to see in this application?!
Bill,
Thanks for stopping.
From my point of view, the software is pretty much all there, though I agree that some identification of opens would be a nice addition. You’ve included all of the data that’s available with the listing and made it easy for the user to contact an agent if they have additional questions. What more is there, unless of course, you want to explore mapping schools and other neighbourhood amenities but that might even be too much on the small screen.
Do let me know what you guys decide on the Blackberry thing. Your new software might just be enough to move me to the iPhone if you decide not to proceed with the other.
