Can you throw in a free car with that house?
The Edmonton real estate market may be starting to show some positive signs with active residential listings dropping around 10% in recent months, but this ad makes it obvious that some seller’s are motivated and ready to do what needs to be done to attract a buyer.
Edmonton builder, Coventry Homes is lobbing out an offer which I’ve never seen before – “…buy one of Coventry’s feature semi-detached or single-family show homes and you’ll get a 2008 City Golf at no additional cost.”
Is now a good time to buy an Edmonton home? Ask Sheldon or Sara. They seem to really know their market.

I always hate those offers. It’s just like a car company here that occasionally will throw in a complete set of golf clubs when you buy a car. I always think I’d just rather have them give me the money back. Nothing is ‘free’ and each person will who gets a home from Coventry will be paying for their car, even if it is a discounted price.

That’s quite a profit they must be making on the homes.
Here’s a read everyone:

How long before I get to say “I told you so”?? Silly people, stop being so damned greedy.

Todd. How true. In fact, buyers will be paying a dear price for that $15,000 car, financed over 25-40 years.
Alex. Scary article, and probably not far from the truth. American politicians seem particularly weak at delivering bad news and making tough choices. The scariest thing is that an economically weak America loses the ability to protect itself, and let’s face it, lots of other nations would revel in their destruction. If that ever happens, Canada won’t be far behind.

Canada only has the same fate as the US as long as we keep electing politicians who are sympathetic to the Americans.
The rise of the Canadian dollar should be something we leverage at this point. The decline of the American dollar should be something all nations recognize and assert their sovereign rights once again. Get rid of American investment, stop offshoring and concentrate on making our own people wealthy and happy.
That other countries would attack Canada?
Stop electing and thinking in right wing. Let’s mind our own business.

Alex, you might not realize it, but according to Canadian Manufacturer’s and Exporters (http://www.cme-mec.ca/national/template_na.asp?p=3), about 87% of our exports go to the U.S. So as much as you apparently dislike the U.S., I don’t think we have the ability to say goodbye to them.
Geez, I’m an NDP’er and I still shudder every time you open your mouth. You live in a socialist utopian world where everyone is paid the same and all get government run housing. Get a grip — the world just doesn’t work that way, like it or not. Try to find some realistic way to make some of your dreams come true than throwing out platitudes and empty slogans.
